What are the Features of Our Heart Molds?
Clean Heart Shape Every Single Pour
Every cavity produces a sharp, defined heart with clean edges and consistent size. Whether you are making tiny 0.5 mL pieces or generous 10 mL chocolates, the shape comes out the same every time.
Available in Silicone and Polycarbonate
Silicone heart molds are flexible, naturally non-stick, and great for gummies, soft chocolates, and wax melts. Polycarbonate heart molds give you a high-gloss mirror finish ideal for professional-looking filled chocolates and bonbons..
Cavity Sizes for Every Occasion
There is a heart cavity size for every recipe type and every presentation need. Mix sizes across your batch for variety in one gift box or display.
Safe for All Recipes, Hot or Cold
All heart molds are FDA and LFGB approved, BPA-free, and completely food-safe. They handle temperatures from freezer-cold to oven-hot without warping or releasing anything into your candy or chocolate.
How to Buy the Right Heart Mold
Decide on Silicone or Polycarbonate First
Silicone is best for gummies, wax melts, and soft chocolates where a flexible pop-out release matters. Polycarbonate gives a harder, glossier finish suited to professional chocolates and bonbons. Think about the final look of your piece before choosing the material.
Match Cavity Size to Your Recipe
Smaller cavities around 0.5 mL suit micro-dose edibles and wax melts. Mid-range sizes around 2.5 mL work well for standard gummies and chocolate hearts. Larger cavities at 4 mL or more are better for filled chocolates or showpiece candy hearts. Our heart candy mold half sheet is a great all-around size for regular gummy and chocolate production.
Think About How Many You Need Per Batch
Half-sheet molds with higher cavity counts like 130 or 468 per tray let you produce large batches in a single pour. This matters if you are making heart candies for events, Valentine's Day orders, or regular selling. The higher the cavity count, the less time you spend on repeat pours.
Stock Up and Save on Shipping
Buying multiple trays at once cuts your cost per mold and keeps your production moving without waiting between batches. All US orders over 35$ ship free and we cover your delivery with shipping protection so your molds arrive safely every time.
Tips for Using Your Heart Molds
-
Tap the Mold After Filling
Right after you pour your chocolate or gummy mixture, tap the tray firmly on the counter a few times. This removes air pockets that collect along the edges and curves of the heart shape. Air bubbles are more visible in a heart than in a simple square or circle so this step really matters here.
-
Use a Piping Bag for Cleaner Fills
The pointed bottom of a heart cavity is easy to miss when pouring from a ladle or bowl. A piping bag gives you the precision to fill all the way into the tip without overflow or gaps. Our heart silicone mold works especially well with a fine-tipped piping bag for clean fills across all 468 cavities.
-
Fill to About 90% of the Cavity
Leave a small gap at the top of each heart cavity. This gives your chocolate or gummy room to set without overflowing and makes unmolding much cleaner. It also gives you space to add a second layer or a filling on top before sealing.
-
Cool at Room Temperature Before the Fridge
Let your filled mold sit out for 5 to 10 minutes before moving to the fridge or freezer. Going straight to cold causes condensation inside the cavities which dulls the surface of your hearts. A short rest first keeps the finish sharp and glossy.
-
For Polycarbonate Molds, Polish Before Pouring
Wipe each cavity with a clean lint-free cloth before filling. This removes moisture and dust that would otherwise show up as dull spots on your finished chocolate hearts. A quick polish before every pour makes a real difference in how professional the finished pieces look. Try this with the heart candy mold half sheet for consistently clean results across large batches.
How to Care for Your Heart Molds
- Wash with warm soapy water and a soft sponge after every use or place silicone molds on the top rack of your dishwasher
- For polycarbonate heart molds, hand wash only with mild soap to preserve the high-gloss surface
- Skip abrasive scrubbers and sharp tools as they scratch cavities and reduce the quality of your finished pieces over time
- Air-dry completely before stacking to prevent moisture sitting between trays
- Store flat in a cool dry space away from direct sunlight and heat
- Never fold or crease silicone heart molds as this weakens the material and distorts cavity shape over time
Heart Mold FAQs
For solid chocolate hearts, a 4 mL to 10 mL cavity gives you a generous piece with good presence. For filled chocolates with a ganache or caramel center, 10 mL works best as it gives you enough depth for a shell and a filling layer. Smaller cavities suit gummies and bite-sized pieces.
Yes. The same food-grade silicone that works for candy and chocolate handles wax melts and soap just as well. Just keep a dedicated set for food use and a separate set for non-food projects to avoid any cross-contamination.
Two things matter most. First, properly temper your chocolate before pouring. Second, make sure the mold is clean and completely dry before use. For polycarbonate molds, polishing the cavity with a lint-free cloth before filling gives you the best mirror-like finish.
Yes. All PJ Bold heart molds are FDA and LFGB approved and completely safe for infused recipes. Choose a mold with a consistent cavity size so you can dose accurately across every piece in the batch.
It depends on the tray. Our half-sheet heart molds range from 21 cavities at 10 mL to 468 cavities at 0.5 mL per tray. Larger cavity counts mean more pieces per pour which is ideal for events, gift orders, or regular production batches.
